EcoFlow Stream 5000 confirmed compatible with the Stream Ultra range

Good news for anyone already invested in the EcoFlow STREAM ecosystem — EcoFlow has confirmed that the new Stream 5000 expansion battery is fully compatible with the previous generation of STREAM units, including the Stream Ultra and Stream Ultra X.

The two systems appear as a single unit within the EcoFlow app, meaning you can manage charge and discharge across both batteries together rather than having to juggle two separate systems. For anyone who already has a Stream Ultra's 1.92kWh and wants to expand capacity, the Stream 5000 adds another 5kWh in one unit — giving a combined system of nearly 7kWh, which is meaningful storage for covering evening demand after a day of solar generation. The extra storage will provide a longer period of cover in a power cut and more capacity for battery arbitrage — charging at night at 4p and using in the day saving 29p a unit.

This is particularly relevant for DIY solar users who started with a smaller setup and want to grow it over time without replacing existing kit — one of the key advantages of the STREAM platform over some competitors.

I've placed an order for the Stream 5000 AC and am expecting delivery by the end of October. Once it arrives I'll be putting it through its paces alongside the existing Stream setup and posting a full hands-on review — including how the combined system performs in a real UK home during autumn solar conditions.
